The serial number is made up as follows:

The first three characters, EXE, mean it is an EXErcise.
The next three characters indicates the location that the exercise is designed for (eg. BUR is for Braunton Burrows, a nearby MOD training area)
The three characters after this indicate the approximate duration of the activity: either in minutes if three figure, or hours if two figures followed by an "H", eg. 090 = 90 minutes, 36H = 36 hours.
The last two digits are an activity number, used to index activities of the same type, location and duration.
