Three Cadets die in coach crash

22nd August 2000

It was a sad day for the Air Training Corps today, as three of its members were tragically killed in a crash in Cambridgeshire today. 36 cadets and 4 staff were attending a summer camp at RAF Wittering, and were returning from an orienteering exercise when a lorry crashed into the RAF coach they were traveling on, killing two of the cadets instantly. Another cadet later died in hospital.

Staff and cadets from across the whole of the Corps has expressed its sympathy to the family and friends of the cadets who died, and 722 Squadron, like many other squadrons, will be flying their Sqn Ensign at half mast as a mark of respect on the next cadet evening.
