As mentioned in the report on the Wing Swimming Championship, both Cdt Martin and Cdt Barney were selected to represent Devon & Somerset Wing in the Regional Swimming Championship.
Cdt Martin was entered in the Junior Male Individual Medley and finished 5th overall, with a time nearly 6 seconds faster than that at the Wing Competition.
Cdt Barney was put into the Junior Female Freestyle Relay and Medley Relay team,
although it was uncertain whether the team would be entered since one member of
the team was swimming that morning in Taunton and had to make a mad dash down
the M5 to arrive in time for the race.
In the Medley relay, Cdt Barney swam the breaststroke and the team went on to win,
breaking the previous regional record by 13 seconds in the process.
The Devon & Somerset team also won the Freestyle relay, again breaking the
previous regional record, although by only half a second this time.
Cdt Barney now goes on to represent SW Region at the Corps Championship at the end of the month.
