Tonight was the final evening for Cadet Flight Sergeant Simon Read. He departs on Wednesday for RAF Halton to begin basic training, after which he will move to Cosford to begin training to be an Air Electrical Technician. F/Sgt Read has been with Chivenor since January 1993 and has always been a regular part of the flight. Simon has been trying to join the RAF for some time, although medical reasons meant that he has had to wait until now.
He intends to continue his involvement with Chivenor, by acting as a member of staff when he is able to return on leave. All at Chivenor wish him well for the future and hope to see him again soon, after he passes out from Halton.

In addition, another ex-cadet, Dale Kiff, is due to pass out as a Royal Marine this week. Dale has undergone the 30-week long training course, said to be the toughest training in the world, but will soon be wearing the coveted Green Beret. Many congratulations to Dale.
